BEFORE YOU BEGIN You must enter your Support Settings before you can edit teams.
This page allows you to edit team information.
NOTE Some fields appear only for metered plans.
How to...
- Adjust the value in any editable field, below:
Field Name | Description |
---|---|
Team Name | The name of the team. |
Plan | The type of license plan available to the team. The options are Metered and Unlimited. You may change a metered plan to an unlimited plan, but not vice versa. See Convert a team from a metered plan to an unlimited plan, below. |
Desktop Licenses | The number of Desktop licenses associated with the team. |
Server Licenses | The number of Server licenses associated with the team. |
Included Storage (read-only) |
This calculated, read-only field displays the amount of storage automatically given to the team. In the case of metered plans, this amount is based on your partner contract with Datto. NOTE Please remember that in order to be used, storage must be allocated to users on the Edit a user page. |
Additional Storage (metered partners only) | The amount of additional storage you wish to give to the team. It can be adjusted in 100 GB increments. You can also have storage automatically go up by set increments by enabling auto-increment. IMPORTANT Enabling auto-increment for storage allows you to set the increment by which it increases, but not the maximum amount of storage they are allowed to be allocated. NOTE This field does not appear for unlimited partners. |
Select the check box and enter a number in the field to enable automatic license count increases up to a designated cap. This will permit users to be added without manually adjusting the license allocation to the team every time. |
|
Trial Mode |

This area allows you to optionally override, for this team only, the notification recipients configured in the Backup Notifications section of the Notifications page. To enable this feature, toggle the switch to Enabled. Optionally enter one or more email address. Separate multiple email addresses with semi-colons. NOTE If you use Autotask in conjunction with File Protection Manager, you can set up your support email address so that Autotask tickets are created automatically when notifications concerning your customers' backup statuses are sent to you by File Protection. For more information, refer to Configure automatic ticket creation for File Protection |
Team Representative | Enter the name and email address of the user on the team responsible for accepting the End User License Agreement (EULA). |
Autotask Integration (non-IUL teams only) |
If you wish to map a team to Autotask, you must first Integrate with Autotask PSA. - Click Save Changes.
If you toggled the Trial Mode switch on when you created the team, the client will have 30 days to try out File Protection. If you do not take any action, the trial account will be disabled on the 31st day.
To convert the trial account to a regular account, do the following at any time during or after the trial period:
- Go to the Edit Team view.
- Click the Convert to Billed Team button.
NOTE After you save, you will not be able to convert this team back into a trial team.
- Click Save.
IMPORTANT The switch from metered to unlimited is unidirectional. Once a customer is on an unlimited plan, you cannot switch them back to a metered plan. The change is irreversible.
Before switching a team from a metered plan to an unlimited plan, please consider the following:
- A team cannot be switched to an unlimited plan if File Protection Desktop is installed on a server operating system. The team must first obtain File Protection Server licenses for those devices and install File Protection Server.
- If any instances of File Protection Desktop are backing up external or network drives, they must be removed before switching to an unlimited plan. File Protection Server is required to back up external or network drives.
Once you have reviewed the conditions above, proceed with the following:
- On the team list, right-click on a row and select Edit Team, or open the Team Detail view and click the Edit Team button.
- Change the value in the Plan field from Metered to Unlimited.
- Click Save. If the team cannot yet be converted to an unlimited plan, an error message will indicate what the problem is, which users/devices are at issue, and how to correct it.
If the team passes all criteria for conversion to an unlimited plan, a confirmation popup will display. - Enter your password and click Convert to complete the process.
- Toggle the Status switch to Enabled.
- Click Save.
