QUESTION   How does throttle control work in File Protection Desktop?

How do the Throttle Control policy and the local settings for maximum speeds at which File Protection Desktop devices can upload to and download from the service interact with each other?

ANSWER  The Throttle Control setting in the backup profile may limit local settings.

You can set the Throttle Control limits in the Network Preferences section of the Backup Preferences page and in your local File Protection Desktop Network Preferences.

If Throttle Control limits are configured via a backup profile, the maximum upload and download speeds are constrained by those settings. The Use Fastest Speed value is limited to the maximum speed set in the policy rather than the maximum available speed.

If Throttle Control limits are not configured via backup profile, the maximum download speed is unlimited, and the maximum upload speed is controlled by the local settings using the Network Preferences interface.
