NAVIGATION Mac menu bar > > Preferences... > General
This window provides an overview of your account, including the connection status, storage usage, backup progress and more. It also allows you to configure your Backup Preferences preferences and Network Preferences settings. A link to the Progress pane, in which you can monitor files currently being backed up, is also available.
The following information is displayed in this window:
Area | Definition |
---|---|
Backup Status | Displays the backup status and the number of files and folders you have chosen to back up, as well as the total size. |
Storage Use | Displays how much storage allocated to you, as well as how much you are currently using. |

NOTE The File Protection Online link is only available on the Windows agent. For instruction on opening File Protection Online directly from the menu, refer to Open File Protection Online.
- Click the Go to File Protection Online link.
- File Protection Online will open in a browser window. There is no need to log on.
- To suspend backup activities, click the Disconnect button. The Disconnect button will be replaced by a Connect button.
- To resume backup activities, click the Connect button.
SECURITY If you cannot click the Disconnect button, it has been locked by your service provider and you will not be able to disconnect from the service. Contact your service provider if you wish to have this setting unlocked. Refer to Get support for your File Protection account.
Windows:
Click the Settings... button. For more information, refer to Backup Preferences and Network Preferences
Mac:
Click the Backup Preferences or Network Preferences tab.
Click the Progress... button. For more information, refer to Progress.
Select or clear the Start File Protection Desktop when I login check box.
SECURITY If you cannot clear this check box, it has been locked by your service provider. Contact your service provider if you wish to have this setting unlocked. Refer to Get support for your File Protection account.
