File Protection Server and File Protection Desktop 8.2
March 5, 2020
Release Notes
We're pleased to announce the release of File Protection Server and File Protection Desktop for Windows 8.2.0.104, and File Protection Desktop for Mac 8.2.0.13, which include the following features, changes, and issue resolutions:
Features
We've enhanced our monitoring .xml output to support ransomware reporting. If a device is quarantined due to a suspected ransomware event, the value in the agent-subscription-status field will be "Quarantined," allowing you to use your RMM of choice as an additional alert mechanism to the build-in alerts provided in File Protection.
NOTE This functionality was already supported for File Protection Server and File Protection Desktop for Windows.
For .xml details, please refer to Can I monitor File Protection with a remote monitoring and management (RMM) tool?
File Protection Desktop and Server are now available in Dutch!
Changes
With this release, we will no longer support Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 due to Microsoft's termination of support for these versions. Please see Microsoft's articles about Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 regarding their change.
For more information on our requirements, refer to File Protection Desktop System Requirements and File Protection Server requirements.
Issue Resolutions
In addition to a variety of minor enhancements and general stability improvements, the following issues are resolved in this release:
File Protection Server and Desktop will now send any name changes made on a device and update the device name in the service accordingly.
The macOS Catalina release negatively affected the layout of the File Protection Desktop for Mac interface. The interface has been adjusted to display properly.
In some scenarios, the setup-deployment-status field in the monitoring .xml file generated by File Protection remained in a wait-admin value. This resulted in incorrect reporting by external monitoring tools.
